Lunch & Learn September issue - Covid 19 cleaning issues
We had hoped that Covid 19 issues would be more clear for the Insurance Industry by now. It has dominated our lives for 18 months now and looks set to do so far into the future. One recurring theme is the need for “Covid Cleaning”.
I have asked Daniel Threlfall and William Threlfall of Steamatic to brief us on the issues of cleaning and restoration in the Post-Covid world. At the practical end, we are seeing some claims for Covid Cleaning. More broadly, there are implications for a range of Insurance claims and practical limitations on loss mitigation.
Daniel Threlfall is General Manager of SGR, Steamatic’s Major Project Arm. He is responsible for the organisation and management of large loss recovery projects throughout Australia and Internationally. With over 14 years’ experience within the restoration industry, working in all operational areas of the business, Daniel has gained invaluable hands-on restoration and large loss project management experience. He has been involved on claims in South America, Africa, Asia and the South Pacific. Past and current COVID travel restrictions have required Steamatic to innovate how both Insurers and Steamatic manage far flung projects, where his expertise comes to the fore.
William Threlfall is General Manager of Steamatic Australia, having worked in the Restoration Industry for 13 years with Steamatic across roles in Operations, Project Management for large and complex losses and Customer Relations. In this time William has been involved in both on-the-ground response and CAT management roles for 2009 Black Saturday bushfires, 2013 Cyclone Oswald, 2014 Brisbane Hailstorm, 2017 Cyclone Debbie, 2019/2020 Bushfires NSW & VIC.
