Mansfield earthquake: Technical Bulletin
On 21 September 2021, a 5.9 magnitude earthquake occurred near Mansfield in Victoria. The quake was widely felt throughout south-east Australia, including most capital and regional cities including Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra.
CRD expects there will be many insurance claims following the event, mostly minor damage to brittle structures, such as masonry, plasterboard and cornices.
This technical bulletin aims to provide some initial commentary around the structural impacts and design requirements for loss adjusters and other assessors in the insurance industry.
