Wagin earthquake: Technical Bulletin
On 25 January 2022, a magnitude 4.7 earthquake occurred near Wagin, Western Australia. The quake was widely felt throughout south-western Australia, including Perth and regional towns such as Mandurah, Bunbury and Albany.
CRD expects there will be insurance claims following the event, mostly minor damage to brittle structures, such as masonry, plasterboard and cornices. This bulletin aims to provide some initial commentary around the structural impacts and design requirements for claims assessors within the insurance industry.
